Year 6 Oak Class Residential 2021 - Day 3

Evening It was a beautiful final evening at camp. Once we were back from the woods, it was time for showers and packing! We also enjoyed free time and another big game of frisbee in the evening sun. Dinner was delicious curry, followed by cheesecake - yum! Finally it was time for our final campfire - we had a lovely reflection on what we’ve enjoyed during our time here. Year 6 shared amazing thoughtful comments and it was wonderful to hear. We ended the campfire with a song before bed, and took in a beautiful sunset before settling into our tents for the night.

18:10 It has been a very full day for us in the forest today! Year 6 have loved getting stuck in to a variety of chosen activities in the forest. Highlights were whittling, finding and foraging wild garlic, tracking deer prints and spotting different types of wildlife. Plus of course we were all enjoying cooking our own s’mores and popcorn over a fire! After a walk back to camp we are getting ready to shower, have a bit of free time, and prepare for dinner and our final campfire!

15:28 Today has been a brilliant day with more to come! After some free play after breakfast, we gathered together to get our sun cream and sun hats on and prepare for our trip to a new woodland nearby. We walked a short distance taking in the views of young cows and sheep along the way. When we arrived at the forest, we spent some time settling in and taking in the new surroundings. We made some nature art to represent something we’ve enjoyed so far! Then it was time for lunch - sandwiches designed and made by ourselves, for ourselves! After lunch, we played a long and funny game of disco detectives. Now we are spending some time in different smaller groups doing different activities of our choosing - some of us exploring nature, creating art, making s’mores and wood carving!

09:00 Good morning from our sunny campsite. After a settled night, we were awoken by the singing of the brilliant TGC team! Now we are gathered around the campfire enjoying our porridge ahead of a second breakfast of eggs and mushrooms. After last night’s campfire circle, there has been some lovely spontaneous singing around the campfire this morning! We also had a nice morning stretch and sing around our campfire logs. The sun looks set to shine on us today!
